This Ferry ran from Arnold's bay in Panton to Westport, New York. It was chartered in 1795 to Peter Ferris of Panton then to Friend Adams then to Loyal Spaulding then to Patric Simon who ran it till 1910. This picture was taken in 1896. It was a new boat bought by SImon.

That is indeed the Arnold's Bay ferry, but the photo shows her at Barber's Point, Westport, NY. So the label is a bit confusing. There are other images available from the Barber Family and if one goes to that spot you will see clearly from the shoreline that this photograph was taken in NY and not Vermont.
