Dear Mrs Marsh:
Your letter to Mary came in this morning, and reminds me of my failure to answer your letter of a few weeks ago. It has not been overlooked, however; as I have placed it in the hands of Mr Goode, to look up the authorities, and make sure that my impression on the subject was correct. Of course I would not like to lead you into an erroneous statement, which -------------------------------- Page -------------------------------- would doubtless be subjected to prompt and sharp criticism.
Mr Goode has been very busy in receiving the collections of the London Fishery Exhibition, and in attending to many other points of detail; but I will corner him to day, and make him tell his story. I hope to enclose a memorandum on the subject in this letter.
Do not hesitate to call on me whenever I can help you in your editorial work. I may not always have -------------------------------- Page -------------------------------- to depend upon somebody else for the data of reply.
