Before breakfast, each cabin with the counselors and the campers would assemble to raise and salute the flag. The building in the background is the mess hall where we would go after the flag raising to have breakfast. After breakfast it was back to the cabin to make our beds and clean the cabin and the outside area around it. Once completed and the inspections were made, we were off to the activities of the day. The cabin with the highest points for cleanliness for the week got a plaque to hang on the cabin for the week and an extra scoop of ice cream for dessert on Sunday. To this day, I am neat and orderly even without the incentive of extra ice cream.
