Description
March 18, 1944. This view shows the inside of the Salvage Depot during the process of baling salvage paper and cardboard. The Street Department erected this building with its own employees and with material salvaged from various and sundry jobs. The Street Department purchased this baler and scales for the baling and weighing of salvage materials. The bale of pasteboard and cartons shown on the scales weight approximately 100 lbs. The salvage process will continue at this plant as a regular function of the operation of the Municipal Refuse Disposal Grounds of the Street Department after the War is over and for helping to pay the operating costs of the grounds.
