Description

May 25, 1942. Hayward Street Improvements Project. This view is taken from the intersection of Howard St. looking northerly to the intersection of Marble Ave. The excavation of the old pavement was partially done last winter and completed this month after which the sand cushion and telford stone base was constructed and the penetration course of chestnut stone has been spread over the telford base and roughly graded ready for rolling with the 15 ton steam roller. Note the condition of the old curbs which will be reset or replaced as the condition warrants.
