This temporary dome appears to me to be the real deal -- a genuine geodesic dome such as inventor-architect Buckminster Fuller worked out, where the weight is effectively, incrementally spread on those thin members to the edges of the strucutre and to the ground, with no interior support elements necessary. The most famous such dome is the former U.S. pavilion built for Expo '67 in Montreal, that was still standing in 2010.
