This is a photo of Clyde G. Hess who was the director of Camp Abnaki. I was a camper and eventually a worker at the camp. I attended for the complete summer starting in 1951 as an 8 year old in the "midget' division. I continued attending until I was 15. Undoubtedly, I loved going to Camp Abnaki where I learned to sail, canoe, campout, swim, compete (played on the camp's baseball and tennis teams, but most importantly to develop friendships with new kids. The experience was so wonderful I sent my son to Camp Abnaki for several seasons although we lived in California. When he attended the camp had taken on an intenational flavor with boys and counselors coming from abroad. Chief Hess was a wonderful man and unfortunately died an untimely death due to a automobile accident. Miss him to this day.
