I attended Cathedral High and graduated as a co-salutatorian of the class of 1959, Rice Memorial High School. The nun on the right was Sister Peter, born Kathleen Moore. I had her for geometry. She was kind enough to announce to the class one day that my mother would go to Hell because she was divorced and remarried. My classmate and friend Michael Daley remembers the incident to this day because he felt sorry for me that day. There were many good, academic nuns who truly cared about us students, but Sister Peter seemed to be a sour, punative, judgmental old lady. By comparison, my mother was a kind, compassionate, non-judgmental lady who was a better person than Sr Peter could ever be. Let's hope Sr. Peter is enjoying an ice cream sundae in Hell herself right now.
