Description
Photograph dated Oct. 17, 1941. Original caption reads: Bradley Road Sewer: This view is taken from a point near the intersection of North Avenue looking easterly toward the Poor Farm. This picture was taken after the North End Sewer construction had been completed and numerous large and small pine trees had been eliminated on the southerly side of the street as well as some excavation as shown in the right foreground bordering Ethan Allen Park. Note that the electric light and telephone pole line has been removed and established on the northerly side of the street parallel to the centerline. A sidewalk has been petitioned to be constructed on the northerly side (left hand) of this street which can be readily seen will require the removal of several trees if constructed in the regular location, one foot from the street line. A WPA project was proposed for regrading, widening and generally improving the street but owing to lack of WPA men because of War Defense work this project will be postponed indefinitely.
