That is Clyde G. Hess, long time director of Camp Abnaki. date unknown.

I will never forget Clyde G. Hess, known by us campers as Chief Hess. He taught us wonderful values of compassion and kindness, but could be the disciplinarian when he had to be. Sweet man, good man.

I would guess the date of this photo is in the early 1950's. I went to Camp Abnaki from 1951 to 1957 or 58. Played many hours on the basketball court in the background.
