November 16, 1939. WPA (Work Projects Administration) Project No. 65-1-12-43. View of extension of north-south runway showing Bitumuls stabilized base in the foreground ready to receive final rolling and a layer of crushed stone for armor coat. Armor coat course of chestnut stone can be seen in background for approximately one-half the total length of the extension; also grading operations for building up the base on the turning area to proper grade can be seen in left foreground.
