Description
September 4, 1941. Burlington Municipal Airport, WPA (Work Projects Administration) Project. This view shows the new diagonal runway after completion of the asphalt emulsion soil stabilization base. The trucks and equipment at the south end of the runway are completing the base construction for the area which lies to the south of the easterly end of the east-west runway. The equipment and crew at the right are completing the excavation of the surplus material above grade near the northerly edge of the east-west runway area. This view is looking in the south-easterly direction from a point about midway of the length of the runway.
