I was privileged to listen to Martha Pellerin sing this song at a wedding in Mead Chapel of Middlebury College, where I played the organ and carillon. She related to me that this song had been sung at her parents' and her grandparents' weddings. It was a beautiful song, sung from the heart, accompanied only by her expressive gestures. The only recollection i have that is different from this text is that i seem to recall the line: "Tchez-de vous aimer". I would love to see the melody with this text, or haer her sing it again. Is there a recording, commercially available? She was a great person! She invited me to come play along (harpe et fltes--bec) at a"kitchen junket" she hosted in her home. I'm so sorry I didn't make that golden opportunity. Sure she's singing in the heavenly choir now. Que Dieu te bnisse pour toujours, Martha Pellerin!
