Helen MacMartin Papers: Creator: MacMartin, Helen Hawthorne, 1891-1987; Dates: 1932-1975; Extent: 5.42 Linear feet; Abstract: The Helen MacMartin Papers contain materials related to her tenure as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Progressive Party of Vermont, from 1948 to 1953, as well as her correspondence, from about 1945 to 1975, and clippings, newsletters, correspondence, and other materials concerning the many social concerns, groups, and organizations with which she was involved over the course of her life. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1891, lived most of her life in Burlington, VT, and died in Berlin, VT, in 1987.
Helen MacMartin Collection of Political Printed Materials: Creator: MacMartin, Helen Hawthorne, 1891-1987; Dates: circa 1945-1975; Extent: 3.125 Linear feet; Abstract: Helen MacMartin (1891-1987) was Secretary-Treasurer of the Progressive Party of Vermont from 1948-1953, after which she continued to work with local, national, and international organizations that promoted peace, civil liberties, civil rights, and an end to nuclear proliferation. She died in Berlin, Vermont, November 3, 1987. This collection consists of the bulk of the printed materials from the Helen MacMartin Papers. It includes one carton of monographs and pamphlets dating from around 1945 to around 1975. The collection also contains serial issues arranged alphabetically by the serial title and then chronologically. The dates and topics of the serials are similar to those of the monographs.
Richard W. Mallary Papers: Creator: Mallary, Richard Walker, 1929-; Dates: 1972-1974; Extent: 27 cartons; Abstract: Mallary served in the United States House of Representatives from 1972-1974. The majority of the papers are correspondences to and from his constituents concerning personal and public issues.
George Perkins Marsh Collection: Creator: Marsh, George Perkins, 1801-1882; Dates: 1812-1929; Extent: 18 cartons; Abstract: Collection includes correspondence, diaries (1864-82), notebooks (1834-86), and published works, relating to protective tariff, founding of Smithsonian Institute, Mexican War, Civil War, and other political issues during Marsh’s congressional career; his impressions of Garabaldi and Italian unification while U.S. minister to Italy (1860-82); and comparative philosophy, Near Eastern Studies, Scandanavian Studies, conservation, book collecting, and other scholarly interests. Includes papers of his second wife, Caroline (Crane) Marsh (1816-1901), author and feminist.

Louis L. McAllister Photographs: Creator: McAllister, L. L., (Louis L.), 1877-1963; Dates: 1915-1961; Extent: 19.0 Linear feet45 boxes; Abstract: The L.L. McAllister Collection includes portraits, construction projects, buildings, businesses and events in the Burlington area covering the period ca. 1920-1960. The collection also includes photos of street, bridge, airport and sewer construction and repair, as well as group portraits of clubs, schools, etc.
Lewis Douglas Meredith Collection: Creator: Meredith, Lewis Douglas, 1905-; Dates: 1925-1971; Extent: 3 cartons, 2 volumes; Abstract: The Lewis Douglas Meredith papers consist primarily of typescripts of speeches and articles by Meredith, and of newspaper clippings by or about him. The great majority of these deal with subjects within the banking, investment, and insurance fields.
Rev. Fraser Metzger: Progressive Party of Vermont Collection: Creator: Metzger, Fraser, Rev., 1872-1954; Dates: 1912; Extent: One box; Abstract: The Reverend Metzger Papers contain materials relating to the National Progressive Party of Vermont and Metzger's gubernatorial candidature in 1912.
William H. Meyer Papers: Creator: Meyer, William Henry, 1914-; Dates: 1958-1965; Extent: 34.0 Linear feet34 cartons; Abstract: Meyer served as U.S. Representative from Vermont, [1958-1965]. Collection includes correspondence, notes, reports, statements. printed matter, newspaper clippings, and other material, on such topics as agriculture, conservation, civil liberties ,and nuclear disarmament. Bulk of the collection is made up of congressional papers with materials on legislation, committee work, public opinion polls conducted by Meyer in Vermont, and the plan for peace which Meyer worked in as a member of Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Vermont Commandery.; Dates: 1860-1951; Extent: 5.0 Linear feet5 ft.; Abstract: Collection includes correspondence, drafts of speeches, records and record books, printed material, newspaper clippings, photos, and memorabilia largely relating to social events and historical celebrations sponsored by the commandery or other similar groups, including the Lake Champalin Tercentennial Celebration of 1909. Includes materials from other chapters of the order.

Julia Morrill Family Papers: Creator: Morrill, Julia; Dates: 1830-1912; Extent: 1.0 Linear feet; Abstract: Family papers of Julia Smith White Morrill and her siblings and children in various towns of western Vermont and points west, these include letters and a diary of a soldier in the Civil War.
