Babcock, Robert S.: Title: Robert S. Babcock Papers; Dates: 1952-1968; Extent: 0.8 Linear feet2 boxes; Abstract: Robert S. Babcock was a Republican Vermont state senator, a member of the Eisenhower State Committee, an alternate to the 1952 national convention, Lieutenant Governor for Vermont in 1959-1961, worked for the Political Science Department of the University of Vermont, and contributed to The Burlington Free Press, WCAX-radio, and WCAX-TV. Included in this collection are manuscripts for some of Babcock's writings and radio and TV addresses, a collection of his writings on the Vermont legislature, âInternational Federalismâ, and an address given to the Middlebury Conference.

Vermont Commandery.: Title: Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States Vermont Commandery Papers; Dates: 1860-1951; Extent: 5.0 Linear feet5 ft.; Abstract: Collection includes correspondence, drafts of speeches, records and record books, printed material, newspaper clippings, photos, and memorabilia largely relating to social events and historical celebrations sponsored by the commandery or other similar groups, including the Lake Champalin Tercentennial Celebration of 1909. Includes materials from other chapters of the order.
Wills, William Henry, 1882-1946: Title: William H. Wills Papers; Dates: 1941-1946; Extent: 1.2 Linear feet3 boxes; Abstract: William H. Wills was the Lieutenant Governor of Vermont between 1937 and 1941, then Governor between 1941-1945. Collection includes primarily notes for text of Willsâ speeches while Governor, together with a few letters, scrapbook of newspaper clippings about Willsâ support for Wendell Wilkie in the 1944 Presidential campaign, notebook of materials of Vermont state war committees (1942-44), family photos, and other papers. Speeches relate to World War II as well as Vermontâs domestic issues in early 1940âs.
Greene, Frank Lester, 1870-1930: Title: Frank Lester Greene Papers; Dates: 1788-1968; Extent: 5.0 Linear feet8 boxes, 11 vols.; Abstract: Frank Lester Greene served in the US House of Representatives from Vermont, 1912-1923. Prior to his tenure in the US House he had been active in Republican clubs and activities in the state and served with the Vermont National Guard in the Spanish-American War. The collection of papers primarily includes family documents, photographs, military papers, speeches, articles, correspondence, campaign material and family memorabilia.
Metzger, Fraser, Rev., 1872-1954: Title: Rev. Fraser Metzger: Progressive Party of Vermont Collection; Dates: 1912-; Extent: One box; Abstract: The Reverend Metzger Papers contain materials relating to the National Progressive Party of Vermont and Metzger's gubernatorial candidature in 1912.
Meredith, Lewis Douglas, 1905-: Title: Lewis Douglas Meredith Collection; Dates: 1925-1971; Extent: 3 cartons, 2 volumes; Abstract: The Lewis Douglas Meredith papers consist primarily of typescripts of speeches and articles by Meredith, and of newspaper clippings by or about him. The great majority of these deal with subjects within the banking, investment, and insurance fields.
Kunin, Madeleine: Title: Madeleine May Kunin; Dates: 1977-1992; Extent: 56 cartons; Abstract: The Madeleine May Kunin collection contains materials spanning her political career from 1977 as Lieutenant Governor to 1996 when she left the United States to become Embassador to Switzerland.
Emerson, Lee E. 1898-: Title: Lee E. Emerson Papers; Dates: -1962; Extent: 14 cartons; Abstract: Emerson was elected as a Republican to the Vermont House of Representatives in 1939, the Vermont State Senate in 1943, served two terms as lieutenant governor, 1945-47, before he was elected governor in 1951-53 and 1953-55. The collection covers the years 1941-(1951-1955)-1962.
Canfield, James Hulme, 1830-1909: Title: James Hulme Canfield Papers; Dates: 1830-1909; Extent: 7 boxes; Abstract: The James Hulme Canfield collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, speeches, notebooks from his professorship at the University of Kansas and family memorabilia. Of particular interest are letters from his daughter, Dorothy Canfield Fisher, and his wife, Flavia Camp Canfield, during trips to the family home in Vermont, and during two extended European trips.
Collamer Family: Title: Collamer Family Papers; Dates: 1802-1918; Extent: 3 Cartons, 5 volumes; Abstract: The Collamer Family Papers consist of three cartons of letters, business papers, legal notes and dockets, account books, speeches and orations, and other manuscripts. Although the collection includes material from the early 1800s to the 1910s, the majority of the Papers fall in date between 1840 and 1865.

The collection consists of early records of the University of Vermont, including accounts, subscriptions, correspondence to individuals and members of the Corporation.
