Scope and Content
The Dorothy B. Hunt Collection contains papers from 1910 to 1987. The papers are organized in five series. "Biographical: Personal" contains details of Dorothy Hunt's life, some of her correspondence, teaching materials and other things. "Community Organizations" (1920s-1980s) contains many arts-related material, including information related to art exhibitions in Burlington, VT, choral groups, musical groups and theater groups, as well as other information. "Statewide Organizations" (1940s-1980s) contains much information about the Vermont Council on the Arts, as well as other statewide arts organizations. "UVM" (1920s-1980s) contains information about college arts-related groups and events, such as theater groups, choral groups and the Champlain Shakespeare Festival, to name a few. "City of Burlington" (1970s-1980s) contains information about city planning during the 1980s, particularly concerning waterfront development and the Burlington Bike Path. "Other" (1950s-1970s) contains a variety of information about different Vermont colleges and miscellaneous theater and music events and series. The collection may be of use to those studying Burlington and the arts in Vermont in the latter half of the twentieth century.
