Acquisition Information
The materials were given to the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in 1983 by Arthur Graves, along with related artifacts. The collection's accession numbers are 10,550 and 10,552.
Scope and Content
Includes 18 reels of 8mm films, depicting Graves' home and family, the St. Johnsbury and New England region, Canada, and trips taken by the Graves family to the American West, Florida, and England and Scotland. Graves appears to have been somewhat of a sportsman and naturalist. Fishing, mountain views, and birds feature prominently. Local sporting events are depicted as well. Three smaller reels of unidentified content bear the accession number 10,550. The other 15 reels have been assigned the individual numbers 10,552-1 through 10,552-15. These reels are labeled 1-3, 7-8, 10, and 13-19. One reel bears no number and is simple labeled "junk." Presumably reels 4-6, 9, and 11-12 did not form part of Graves' donation. More detailed lists of the reels' apparent contents were created by Curator Howard Reed, and these have been transcribed to append this finding aid.
