Scope and Content Note
The Samuel Pettengill Collection contains eighteen volumes of newspaper columns written by Pettengill between 1939 and 1949. They deal primarily with current events on the political scene. The columns are arranged chronologically by date and release number. An alphabetical title index preceeds each volume, and there are three general indexes. The most important of these is a general alphabetical title index to the whole collection. There is also a general chronological index which covers the years 1944-1949, and a very general chronological index to the volumes.
When the collection arrived it was housed in nineteen binders. The papers have been transferred to folders and boxed, but the original volume by volume arrangement has been retained.
