Valentine G. Barney to Maria Barney
The Captain is rather more comfortable this morning & I think is improved in looks. I have just been down to see him. He is in pretty good spirits & sits up some every day. He wishes me to say that he thinks you had better keep the cow a while longer, as there is some chance that we shall be in Vt. before a great while. He received a letter from you Mon, but has rec’d none written since he was taken sick, or at least since I wrote you of it. Trusting I can write this encouragingly every time I write, I remain
Respectly Yours, O.S. Whittmore.
