Justin Smith Morrill to Matthew H. Buckham, September 16, 1890
Strafford, Vt. Sept. 16, 1890
My dear Sir:
Your letter about counsel has
been received. Of course you can best judge.
When the vacancy on the supreme bench
occurred and the name of the ex. Gov was
prominently mentioned, he was very sharply
criticized as lacking in sound legal ability.
But he would doubtless exert some influence.
Very truly yours
Justin S. Morrill
Prest. M. H. Buckham
